Lincoln Memorial
Lincoln Memorial

We had a wonderful trip to Washington, D.C. a few weeks ago. Brad and Matthew are the perfect age to appreciate the memorials and museums. We saw almost all of the Smithsonian museums and both Air & Space museums. The boys really enjoyed seeing the space shuttle. Another highlight was the American History museum. The Star-Spangled banner exhibit included the original flag that inspired the national anthem. At the national archives, we saw the Constitution, Magna Carte, and the Declaration of Independence.

My favorite place was the Lincoln Memorial. The building is designed after the ancient Greeks’ temples and has 36 columns. The statue of Lincoln is 19 feet high. This was my second time to go to DC. I had been when I was 17 years old (just a few years ago, if you count in dog years). The Lincoln Memorial was my favorite last time too.

We also saw the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. I wanted to make sure that the boys realized how horrible this time in history was and understood what happened to the Jews under Hitler. It was very emotional to see, to say the least.

This month, my main article goes over how often you should review your estate plan over the different stages of your life.
