Moving DayI have some exciting news–we are moving our office in December to 924 N. Elm! It has been quite an adventure getting the old house we purchased ready to be a law office. Our moving date is still up in the air, because we are having work done on the house, and it all has to be coordinated. We are either moving the last Friday in November or the first Friday in December. I am learning to be flexible, as construction is truly a test of patience. I don’t know how people make it through the stress of building an entire house.

There were several decisions during this process that reminded me of estate planning choices. Did we want to just put a band-aid on and fix things later, or did we want to bite the bullet and get things done right the first time? We chose to get things done right the first time, and it was actually less expensive in the long run. This is similar to the choice between a will or a trust. A will costs less in the short run, but will be more expensive in the end with costs of probate and possible guardianship.

To give us time to get settled, we will have an open house after Christmas. We will keep you posted.
