Mary is our probate clerk. She lights up every room with an infectious smile and personality. “Being with people is good medicine,” Mary said. “The way I look at it is like this: it is easier to be positive than negative, and I always try to keep that in mind as I live my life. Treat people as you would like to be treated — with respect.” She added, “I want to leave people feeling better. And I feel better being around them.”

Mary comes to us after spending 15 years at Flower Mound Pharmacy, where she played a major role in everything from nutrition and senior care to marketing and accounting. She even taught classes on diabetes and other related conditions. She left the pharmacy roughly a year ago after an extended illness and was not looking for another career.

But as Mary puts it, her house was as clean as it’s ever been because she was constantly there instead of out and about around town. And, yes, she craved being back in an office setting with other people.

“I mentioned to someone in passing that if anyone needed some help, let me know. Next thing I know, James Hilton heard what I had said and mentioned that they were hiring here. It was a God thing, and it all just fell into place. I love the challenge, and I love coming to work every day.”

When she is not working or volunteering in the community, Mary can be found spending quality time with her family. She and her husband, Lewis, have been married for 33 years and have three beautiful daughters. Twins Anna and Rebekah are 28, and Rachel is 26. They also have three grandkids and another on the way.
