Brad Hilton has the most clever answer for when people ask how long he’s been working at Leigh Hilton PLLC.  “Since I was old enough to remove staples on my own,” he said.

Anyone who hears that line is sure to get a good laugh, but there’s plenty of truth to it. As James and Leigh’s son, Brad has been involved in the family business since he was 8 years old. Along with his brother, Matthew, he has done everything from being the firm’s go-to staple puller to an errand boy running important documents to the post office and courthouse.

Brad is now a marketing assistant and legal assistant, but even that job isn’t cut and dried.

“It really morphs into a lot of different things,” Brad Hilton said. “Typically, a legal assistant prepares documents. But I also review and make edits, and I will also edit documents during signings if there are any changes. As a marketing assistant, I go to the different seminars we have and help with any marketing that is related to that. Whatever they need, I’ve always enjoyed helping out.”

He added, “It’s been rewarding to watch the firm grow as it has. I’m proud of my parents for what they’ve achieved.”

At the heart of the law firm’s success is the Hilton family’s undying commitment to helping people during the most complicated and overwhelming stages of their lives and being proactive stewards for the community they serve. Brad, 20, picked up on that mindset quickly, even in his younger days. Now that he has the industry knowledge to tie everything together, he sees himself and the rest of the team carrying on the firm’s legacy well into the future.

“My mom has no plans to retire anytime soon, and that’s a great thing,” he said. “But I like the idea of carrying this on.”

Brad attends the University of North Texas part-time while juggling his duties at the law firm and plans on eventually going to law school. When he’s not working, Brad has a variety of interests he likes to dabble in. This includes cooking, being in nature, hiking with his friends and family, spending additional quality time with friends, and reading as much as possible.

Ultimately, his passion is for helping people, and following in his parents’ footsteps.

“This is what I am passionate about,” he said. “As a family, we’ve always wanted to help people. My brother plans on going to medical school to help people, and I want to go to law school to help people. We’re helping you, your family, and making sure everything works the way it should so that everything is easier for your family. That’s important to us.”
