Alex Mayo is our newest legal assistant, and he has stumbled upon a career he genuinely enjoys.

Anyone who knows Alex’s background — he is the son of a pastor; Alex’s wife, Valeria, is the connections pastor at their church — will tell you that he has always been deeply rooted in his Christian faith and has a love for helping and serving others. That is exactly what he gets to do every day at Leigh Hilton PLLC, helping us ensure that all of our clients’ estate planning and elder law needs are handled from A to Z. This includes helping draft the documents ancillary to wills and trusts, making clerical changes to wills and trusts, and working alongside our attorneys and other team members. He also makes sure all documents are ready to be signed by clients.

He said working in a place that cares for its clients and looks out for their best interests is a dream come true.

“It is a great place to work,” he said. “That mindset of serving others has always been very prominent in my mind, so I wanted a job that would allow me to do that.”

Sitting down to talk with Alex is like peeling back layers on an onion. The longer you sit there and listen, the more you learn what else he can do. He previously worked in a printing shop, which ties into his creative side. Alex is a big fan of graphic design, photography, and videography. He is also an accomplished gamer, and when he is not doing that, he spends a great deal of time as a staff member at his family’s church, the Christian Center Assembly of God in Krum.

When he does find time to sit down and relax, he is usually with his wife, Valeria, and their dog, Paisley. He and Valeria have been married since August and have lived here in Denton ever since.

“We are enjoying being here in Denton, and I have certainly enjoyed my time here [at Leigh Hilton, PLLC],” Alex said. “Everyone is so nice, and I can definitely see myself staying here for quite a while.”
