Chyna Bottoms is a perfect example of the mindset that if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

You see, Chyna applied for a position here at Leigh Hilton PLLC two years ago. At the time, she was an energetic and talented student at TWU who routinely passed by our Denton location every day on the way to class. She was enamored with the idea of working in a law firm. And being that it was so close to her apartment, it seemed like a no-brainer.

And it was! The only hiccup was that she didn’t get the job at first. Undaunted, she waited and then tried again.

“I didn’t get [the job] at that point, but I tried again recently, and here I am,” Chyna said with a laugh. She joined our firm in May as an administrative assistant. “I remember applying, and I heard back the very next day for an interview.”

She added, “Life is funny like that sometimes. I know working here is going to be a great experience.”

That cheerful attitude toward life must have been encoded in Chyna’s DNA from birth. A native of Houston, Chyna grew up in the Cypress/Katy area and spent almost all of her time as a competitive cheerleader. She even thought about going to college for Cheer but ultimately decided to major in political science with a minor in sociology. She still stays physically fit with a dedicated workout schedule, but now she’s juggling that with a burgeoning new career that also saw her spend time working in the front office at Denton County Elections. In her mind, being at Leigh Hilton has endless possibilities and could catapult her to becoming a paralegal someday.

“Everyone has been really nice, and I’m learning a lot,” she said. “I feel lucky to have found something so quickly.”

As our administrative assistant, Chyna does everything from answering phones and greeting clients to sending emails, scanning and filing paperwork, scheduling appointments, and even addressing birthday cards to clients. Clients who have met her already all agree that her smile is infectious, and she is constantly bringing a lot of energy to everything she does.

In her spare time, Chyna loves spending time with her boyfriend and visiting different restaurants around town that they haven’t tried before. In between workouts, she’s a self-professed Netflix fiend. She also loves hanging out with friends and being around animals. She owns two fish tanks, and her boyfriend has a young pit bull that she absolutely adores.

“I love all animals — dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, etc. I’m into all of it,” she said.
