Angie F. Anderson felt good about Leigh Hilton, PLLC, when she answered an online job posting on a typical weekday afternoon while sitting at a local Starbucks. This happened the day before she graduated with her paralegal certification from the University of Texas-Austin.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of North Texas, though she admits she entered college to be a biochemistry major. That changed roughly two years into her college career, and it was the best decision she could have made.
“I started thinking about becoming a paralegal when some of my professors told me that my organization and deadline management skills would be valuable traits for a paralegal,” she said. “Being a Political Science major, lots of my classmates and teachers knew many intricacies about the legal world. I enjoy what I do because there is always something new to learn. Whether I’m at work or home, I enjoy learning new things.”
As our paralegal, Angie will predominately help draft many of the important legal documents our clients are used to seeing when they work with us — wills, trusts, powers of attorney, etc.
“I love it here,” she said. “Everyone is so nice, and I see myself staying here for a very long time.”
Angie is half Dutch and Australian, and several of her family members currently live in the Netherlands. When she isn’t working, she enjoys baking cookies and other delicious treats for neighbors and friends. She also enjoys jogging occasionally, but not as much as her fiancé, Paul, an avid half-marathoner. Paul is a social studies teacher just down the road at Calhoun Middle School, and the two lovebirds plan to be married in November 2024.
Few people know that Angie is also a classically trained bass clarinetist.
“I grew up surrounded by an appreciation for classical music,” Angie said. “My weekends were spent at the bass hall, watching and listening to orchestras, symphonies, ballets, and operas. Along with playing the bass clarinet, I dabbled in piano and the cello.”
Please join us in welcoming Angie to our team, and don’t hesitate to say hello the next time you are in the office.
